Abstract The Weather Man is a modern film set in Chicago which narrates about David’s experiences。 The film combines the masculinity crises, identity anxiety and harsh satire which men usually encounter in daily life with a light comedy atmosphere。 Trivial affairs pile up the “fast food” living style of David, trap his social identity and further trigger the crisis of masculinity。 This thesis, which is on the base of Connell’s three-part structure model of gender relations, examines David’s masculinity crises and deals with his efforts to reconstruct his male identity from the aspects of power relations, the production relations and emotional attachment。73369

1。 Introduction
The Weather Man is a comedy produced by Paramount Pictures。 The film, directed by Gore Verbinski and starred by Nicola Cage, Sir Michael Caine and other performers, is released on October 28, 2005 in America。 It tells a story in which a weather man lives a frustrated life that almost everybody laughs at him and finally he changes to a respectable man。
The Weather Man is set in Chicago。 Chicago, a city in the north-central of America, has the most changeable weather。 People there depends on the weather forecast to arrange work。 David is a weather man without meteorology degree。 People would throw junk food at his face when he does not make an accurate weather report。 He feels himself like fast food which looks great but without any nourishment。 论文网
