AbstractIn foreign language learning, people are more and more clearly aware of the importance of reading ability。 Reading ability can embody our level in using the knowledge of English。 Reading comprehension is an important part of learning English。 The improvement of reading comprehensive ability will help people understand the extensive connotation of the matter。 Therefore, in the process of training and improving students' English reading ability, we should not only lay the foundation for the basic knowledge of language, but also pay attention to the accumulation of cultural background knowledge to broaden students' knowledge consciously,and optimize knowledge structure。 We should also pay attention to the cultural difference which brings influence to the reading comprehension。 Cultural background knowledge and reading comprehension of English has a close connection, which affects students' text comprehension and reading speed。 The more cultural background knowledge the readers have, the sooner they understand the text and the higher accuracy they obtain。 This article will discuss the influence of cultural background knowledge on learners' reading comprehension mainly by the types of cultural background knowledge: regional culture, custom culture and religious culture in order to highlight the importance of cultural background knowledge。 And also it will give some effective ways to improve learners' reading comprehension ability。76867
