摘 要 节日文化是认识和研究一个民族文化奥妙的重要窗口，也是民族文化的重要组成部分。随着经济全球化和一体化趋势的增强，中西方传统节日发生相互碰撞与相互融合。在这样的背景下，本文通过对春节与圣诞节、清明节和万圣节、七夕节和情人节三组传统节日的对比研究，分析了它们在节日文化功能、节日文化起源、节日形式和节日文化内涵方面的相同点和不同点。期望通过本文的研究能使读者对节日的价值观念、情感心理和文化符号的精神蕴含有更深的理解，以克服文化差异，避免文化冲突，在文化沟通中达到更有效的融合。25054

Abstract
Festival culture is an important portion of national culture and also an significant window to research the secret of a nation. As the trend of economic globalization,Chinese and western traditional festivals clash with each other. On the perspective of cross-culture,the comparison of three groups of festivals:Spring Festival and the Christmas Day, the Pure Brightness Festival and the Halloween,the Chinese Valentine’s Day and the Western Valentine’s Day,making an analysis of festival functions, festival origin, festival form and festival cultural connotation. The study of this paper would make readers have deeper understanding of festival’s inherent values,emotional psychology and cultural symbols,also aiming to dig out Chinese and Western cultural connotation of traditional festivals from the background of economic globalization and overcome cultural differences, avoiding cultural conflict and achieving efficacious integration in cultural communication .

Comparisons between Chinese and Western Festivals from Perspective of Cross-cultural Communication
Ⅰ.Introduction
Cross-cultural refers to correct understand the culture which differences or conflicts with the national cultural phenomenon,customs,habits,etc, and based on this tolerant attitude to accept and adapt this foreign culture. Cross-cultural theory will offer foundation to analysis festival culture in China and western countries.
Traditional festival is a complex thing of social culture that contains a nation’s beliefs ,value orientation and moral sentiment which were accumulated in long-term of history process. The most outstanding traditional cultural is a survival form in unique way to display a nation’s special culture. Traditional ethnic festivals associated with productive activities, awareness campaigns and social history, evolution and transformation, and they are colleagues reacted in different levels in people’s material and cultural life. Differences of different national traditional festivals constitute a system of culture which was closely related to the survival form of life.
