There are many other scholars abroad who have also devoted themselves to the researches of Skopostheorie。 In 1993, Edwin Gentler wrote Contemporary Translation Theory related to this topic。 Basil Hatim made comments on Nord’s articles that “most translational actions allow a variety of Skopos which may be related to each other in a hierarchical order。 The translator should be able to justify their choice of a particular Skopos in a given translational situation” in 1998。 Wolfram Wilss is the author of two relevant books, The Science of Translation: Problems and Methods(1982) and Knowledge and Skills in Translator Behaviour(1996)。 Mary Snell-Hornby also wrote 2 books about Skopostheorie, namely Translation Studies- An Integrated Approach(1988) and The Turns of Translation Studies: New Paradigms or Shifting Viewpoints?(2006)
2。1。2 Previous Studies on Skopostheorie at Home
Chinese researchers started studying Skopostheorie much later than their Western peers。 As is widely acknowledged, the Skopostheorie was firstly brought into China in late 1987。 Gui Qianyuan briefly described Nord’s translation theory and his article is regarded as the first of its kind which introduced functionalism into China。 Time witnesses the developments of Skopostheorie in China。 Chinese scholars have made many achievements in this area, including its introduction and application of the theory when study translation。 They have feverish discussions on this topic and pave the way of deeper and more comprehensive study on Skopostheorie。
In Chinese Translators Journal and Shanghai Science and Technology Translation, Zhang Nanfeng and Chen Xiaowei publish their articles that once again explained Skopostheorie to more readers。 Chen Gang and Hu Weijia (2004) talked about the impacts of Skopostheorie in literary translation。 They put up with that there also exists the negative side of this theory and try to find the reasons。 In Skopostheory of Translation, Bian Jianhua (2008) points out that the application of theory is perse。 Zhou Mengzhen (2006) evaluates the criteria of promotion materials translation through objectively analyzing the application of Skopostheorie。文献综述
Li Xiaohong (2009) writes about the duality and applies the Skopostheorie in terms of drama translation。 In her paper, Evaluating Criteria for Drama Translation From Perspective of Skopos Theory, she tries her best to build a system toward translation and to evaluate both sides of duality。 Xie Jinrong and Xiong Demi (2013) explore legal English translation from the perspective of Skopostheorie。 They find out that in the field of text typology, Skopostheorie provides a reasonable statement for the translation methods and strategies used in the target text。 Based on the translation of Pictures of the Future and guided by Skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule, Jiang Minhao (2015) studies that how to apply Skopostheorie to translating scientific texts and light the way of the similar translation。
In addition to the scholars who have been mentioned above, many other Chinese scholars also have their own opinions on Skopostheorie。 Liu Jiangwei (2009) analyzes the translation of Chinese sports news from the perspective of Skopostheorie。 There are 9 articles about Skopostheorie published in the Chinese Translator’s Journal。 The authors’ names are Zhou Zhaoxiang (1986), Zhong Weihe and Zhong Yu (1999), Chen Xiaowei (2000), Zhu Chunshen (2000), Fan Xiangtao and Liu Quanfu (2002), Cui Yonglu (2003), Zhu Zhiyu (2004), Chen Jianjun (2004), Bian Jianhua (2006)。
All the scholars mentioned in this thesis have pushed the process of Chinese studies on Skopostheorie。 However, limitations still exist, such as the lack of how Skopostheorie affects the translation process。 And there are scholars who are not in favor of the Skopostheorie for different reasons。
