摘要本文旨在阐述德国功能翻译理论和发展概况和中国传统文学的翻译的工作机制的基础上，选取莫言的《蛙》的英译本，以德国的功能目的理论出发探讨莫言《蛙》的葛浩文的译本进行探讨。莫言是中国当代最受西方欢迎的作家之一，他是中国第一个获得诺贝尔文学奖的中国人。莫言的小说之所以能够得到西方世界的认可和广泛的传播，葛浩文对莫言作品长久以来的持续关注，以及与莫言之间存在着多部作品之间的合作。原作者和译者之间的沟通以及译者在翻译过程中所遵循的翻译理论都深刻的影响着莫言获得诺被尔文学奖。本文就此从德国的功能理论中的目的原则深入剖析了了莫言的《蛙》的葛浩文版英译本.25905

Title Observing the translation of Mo Yan’s Frog by using German Functionalism
Abstract
This paper firstly introduces the development of German Functionalism and the working mechanism of translating traditional literature. Taking Mo Yan’s Frog as an example, it analyzes the Howard Goldblatt’s translation of frog by using German Functionalism. Mo Yan is the most popular Chinese author in the western countries. Furthermore, he received Nobel prize for Literature. The reason why he enjoys the high reputation is the Howard Goldblatt’s translation of his works. Howard Goldblatt’s translations make Mo Yan’ works receive a great reputation by the western world. German Functionalism liberates translation from the enslavery of source language, from translator’s new angle of view to explain the translation activities. So this paper focuses on the Frog’s translation by using German Functionalism.

1 Introduction
1.1 Research background
As the first Chinese author who receives the Nobel Prize of literature, his articles are mainly constructed in the China special background, and his work depicts the vivid characters. And at the same time his works have recorded the great changes during last decades of China.
MO Yan panoramically describes the historical changes, local conditions and customs and the fate of different characters of 20th century. Mo Yan's works are full of abundant stories and he carefully records the details of that ages. Mo Yan is a Chinese writer who comes from the countryside and has many life experiences in countryside. Many writers have the same background like Mo Yan, while that type of a person like Mo Yan is so rare. We just can read the original picture of the northern Ecological Rural China from Mo Yan’s works. In Mo Yan's works, he has created hundreds of variety characters with different fate and features.（王德威，2013）
And absolutely Howard Goldblatt’s translation makes Mo Yan’ works receive a great reputation by the western world.
