In the main part of the paper, The author pides it into seven parts。 The first part is introduction which includes the situation of reading and the significance of the study。 It also gives a short layout of the paper。 In the second part, The author will introduce literature review, which contains the definition of reading ability, then reviews some related studies about reading。 The third part focuses on the description of information processing theory。 In this part, the author will introduce eight steps of learning。 My whole paper is based on this theory。 In fourth part includes The author will introduce factors of affecting reading which include psychological factors, knowledge factors, language factors and strategy factors。 Then this paper puts forward four techniques to improve the students' English reading ability: from introduction of situation to integrated reading to focus on explaining to communicative exercise。 The six part focuses on the application of teaching reading techniques, The author uses these four methods to guide students to read, which proves that these four teaching methods will help students improve their English reading ability。 The last part draws a conclusion and elaborates the significance of this research。

When people talk about reading, different people have different ideas。 Some people believe that reading is a process of decoding, and some believe that reading is a guessing process。 Others believe that reading is the interaction between the reader and the author。 Modern psychological linguists and cognitive linguists define reading as a complicated, positively thinking psychological activity。 Reading is a active process, not passive。 People read books with different purposes。 Reading can cultivate people's sentiments and enhance self-cultivation。 Reading is a thought process of understanding, comprehending, absorbing, appreciating, evaluating and investigating articles。
Reading is also the process of obtaining information from visual materials。 Visual materials are mainly text and pictures, including symbols, formulas, charts and so on。 The first process is the visual materials into sound, then to achieve the understanding of visual materials。 In general, reading is a combination of physiological activity and mental activity。 The purpose is to understand the content of the text and obtain the information, which is the thought experience that the reader produces after reading the text。 Reading is one of the basic skills of mastering a language。 And reading can also promote listening, speaking and writing skills。
Reading ability is a kind of inpidual psychological feature。 It is a kind of comprehensive ability manifested by the reading process。 It is not limited to one language and can be moved among various languages。 In the analysis of the elements of reading ability, Hu Chundong pides reading ability into four kinds of ability: reading competence, reading ability, reading skills and reading intelligence。 (Hu 78) These four abilities constitute the reader complete reading ability。
On how to develop English reading ability, different people put forward different theories。 Many scholars come out with effective reading theories from different angles of research。 As early as 1917, reading was considered a passive reception process, but Thorndike identified "reading is a positive problem-solving process。" Some people proposed the use of psycholinguistics for reading, arguing that reading is a positive cognitive process。
