To learn English writing well, people must study it in earnest when they first start writing. After all, as the old saying goes "Well begun is half done ".Therefore, when junior school students begin to learn how to write English compositions, their teachers should pay much  more attention on this process.

According to English curriculum standards, at the end of junior middle school, students should be able to:

Gather and organize materials for the purpose of writing;

② Draft short letters and passages independently, editing them under the teacher’s guidance;

③ Use common linking devices to express oneself fluently and logically in writing;

④ Writing simple descriptions of people or objects;文献综述

⑤ Write simple paragraphs, instructions and explanation according to prompts given in pictures or tables.

However, these requirements are not met by all junior high school students. In fact, many students don’t do well in English writing. Therefore, improving writing ability not only become the dream of junior high school students, but also the wish of the English teachers. Most people attribute the poor quality of English writing to students themselves, but few people consider this problem from the aspect of the teachers.  According to a proven statistic, junior high school English teachers spend 45 percent of teaching time in listening, 30 percent time in speaking, 16 percent time in reading while only 9 percent of time or even less in writing. From this survey, it is not difficult to find that so little time is spent on writing teaching, and it is obviously that it is very essential to improve the English writing class. Besides, with careful analysis, it is not difficult to see that the qualities and the teaching ability levels of junior high school English teachers are also very important factors to the teaching of the English writing course.
