Abstract Business negotiation is becoming increasingly popular in international business activities。 Meanwhile, language use in business negotiations is attracting great interest from scholars。 Interpersonal metaphor, as a part of the main contents of grammatical metaphor, is widely employed in our daily communications and on other occasions。 This paper analyses the text of dialogues collected from Internet and several well-known magazines from the two aspects, mood and modality。 Mood is analyzed from context and participants’ responses and modality is studied from clause and nominalization。 The summary is that interpersonal metaphor is very vital to maintain interpersonal relationship and build business relations。 And this study can be of help to both the teachers and students, especially those who may be engaged in business one day, to understand interpersonal metaphor in studying English business negotiation。73544

摘要商务谈判在国际商务活动中变得日益流行,与此同时,商务谈判中语言的运用一直吸引着广大学者的兴趣。人际隐喻作为语法隐喻的主要内容之一,广泛出现在日常生活及各种交际中。此论文从互联网和著名商务杂志中搜集谈判的对白文本,并对其存在的人际隐喻现象从语气和情态两方面进行分析,语气从语境和参与者反应来分析,语气从从句和名词化来分析, 进而总结出人际隐喻在商务谈判中, 在维系人际关系以及在促成业务关系建立所起到的重要作用,也有利于对学习商务英语的老师和学生,尤其对于将来可能从事商务的学生,在理解商务谈判的特点上有所帮助。

With the rapid development of economic globalization and the prosperity of international business, international business negotiations are gradually becoming increasingly popular and important。 Business negotiation has been taking up a remarkable position in international business activities。 As we all know, international business negotiations is a process filled with confrontation and concession so it is of great significance for people to master some language skills to express themselves appropriately and strategically for search of a win-win result。 The result of negotiations makes a great difference to the establishment of overseas business networks and the access to the overseas markets。 A good mastery of the counterpart’s language is greatly required for negotiators but at the same time how to use language appropriately and politely is more momentous。论文网
