As far as the world is concerned, bilingual education has a long history。 Bilingual education in foreign countries came into vogue from the second half of the 20th century。 For example, America, California, Australia, Europe, South Africa and many countries of Asia are conducting bilingual education。 Among them, Singapore and other countries take bilingual education as a basic national policy; Switzerland, Singapore, Luxembourg and other countries conduct the “three languages” education or “four languages” education。

1。2 Significance and purpose

The study of bilingual teaching in the primary school English class is a question worthy of further exploring, which is of theoretical and practical significance。 

Bilingual teaching design meets the requirements of new curriculum reform and develops the theory and practice of curriculum reform, which is based on the characteristics of bilingual teaching and oriented toward modernization, the world and the future。 Improving the language quality of students and making them stepped into the threshold of the world of language from education。 Making them learn to use English for communication and lay the foundation on understanding and thinking in English。 To meet the requirements of times and then absorb, inherit and innovate the excellent culture of the world, it is important to carry out bilingual teaching。

In order to meet the needs of international communication and cultural communication, bilingual teaching has emerged as the times require。 It has a strong practical significance in highlighting the characteristics of foreign language teaching, improving the bilingual curriculum system and guiding the teaching management of  teaching in primary school English class and then effectively improve them。

First of all, it has further changed the wrong concepts of bilingual teaching in Chinese universities through the effective evaluation of bilingual teaching。 Besides, it has made up for the deficiency in bilingual teaching in primary school English class。 

Bilingual teaching is a topic worthy of discussion。 Then, I'd like to study and research on it。 In my essay, I mainly talk about the definition of bilingual teaching, the advantages and disadvantages of bilingual teaching in English class of primary schools, reasons for the abuse of bilingual teaching and methods of improving the disadvantages of bilingual teaching。

“The International Encyclopedia of Education” says that the minimum standard of the definition of bilingual education should be a kind of Education Act that a kind of teaching uses two languages in some teaching process within the Education Law。 It is not to use two kinds of languages in teaching at the same time or in the same term, but to use the two kinds of language in different grades。 Bilingual education experts, Mackay (Canada) and Sigyn (Spain) thought that bilingual teaching was a teaching system with two kinds of language as the medium of instruction, in which a language is often but not necessary in a student's first language。文献综述

2。1。2 The affecting and driving factors of bilingual teaching

From experts’ earlier studies, there are different factors affecting or driving the establishment and development of bilingual teaching。 For instance, teachers, teaching material, teaching management system, and others all can have impacts on bilingual teaching。 A scholar makes a conclusion that there are five main factors affecting or driving bilingual teaching。 The five factors are as follow。 Firstly, English teaching is time-consuming and low efficiency。 Secondly, English is the most important international language。 Thirdly, it is the need of improving the comprehensive national strength and international competition。 Fourthly, it is the need of local future development。 Finally, it is the need of the future development of students。
