Equivalence is only a form suitable for the purpose of translation, and it is a principle adopted in a specific situation. The translation equivalence should obey adequacy, therefore, skopos theory translation evaluation criterion is suitable for translation (Adequacy), rather than the equivalence translation (Equivalence). Adequacy refers to whether the translation meets the requirements specified in the translation requirements, that is to say, the target text should fulfill its communicative function in the target language context and culture. The skopos theory holds that text is a source of information, and the reader chooses an interesting or important information from it. As a result, the text is no longer the first or most important criterion of the translator's translation, but it is only one of the many factors that the translator chooses. Therefore, we infer that the function of the target text is more important than its faithfulness to the original text.
Adequacy is a dynamic, consensus theory related to translation, in the process of translation, on the basis of the target, selecting the symbol which is suitable for the purpose of translation, realizing the requirements of translation, that is, the effectively realizing the function of the translation or not.
2.3 Three Rules of Skopos Theory
According to Skopostheorie, there are three basic rules to govern the translator’s activities in the process of translation: skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule.
2.3.1 Skopos Rule
Skopos rule refers to the role of translation in the context of the target language and culture, in the way that the intended recipient expect to act. The fundamental rule of the translation process is the purpose of the whole translation activity (skopos), that is, result determinate method. There are three explanations for this purpose: (1) the basic purpose of the translator; (2) the communicative purpose of the target text; (3) the purpose of the specific translation strategies or means to achieve. However, the "skopos" usually refers to the communicative purpose of the target text. That is, the initiator in the translation process, determine the communicative purpose of the translation, the initiator for a special needs, in the ideal condition, he will give reasons needed, translation recipients, translation environment, the functions and the details etc.
2.3.2 Coherence Rule
The rule of coherence refers to the criteria that must be consistent with the internal coherence. The internal coherence refers to the meaning that the target text must be able to make the reader understand in the target language culture or the communicative environment of the target text. Any text is just an information provider, and the translator according to the purpose of the translation only select the information that interested him, and then process the language into the target language to make it a new information provider.
