Abstract Vocabulary plays an important role in improving students’ reading comprehension。 Reading can help students enlarge their vocabulary, and in return, knowing more words or having a large vocabulary can help students read more easily。 So, vocabulary and reading supplement each other。 Only when teachers pay attention to vocabulary teaching in teaching reading can they find efficient teaching methods and strategies to help students enlarge their vocabulary and enhance their reading ability。76031

This thesis briefly demonstrates the significance of English vocabulary and reading。 It also simply analyses the lexical competence in vocabulary teaching, including the ability to perform rule-based generation or invention of new words and the ability to infer the meaning of new words in context。 Reading strategies are also mentioned in this article, such as predicting, scanning and skipping。 Furthermore, this article points out some problems in teaching vocabulary as well, and some useful vocabulary teaching techniques are also introduced in this thesis to help teachers teach vocabulary efficiently。

摘要 词汇在英语阅读中起到了极其重要的作用，与阅读教学相辅相成。本文以英语阅读和词汇教学理论研究为基础简要分析了英语词汇和英语阅读教学之间的关系，说明了词汇和阅读教学的重要性，并简单的分析了英语阅读中词汇能力的运用。本文同时指出了在阅读教学中预测词义、略读、跳读等不同教学策略的运用，并指出了当前词汇教学过程中存在的一些问题，提出了一些英语词汇教学方法以帮助教师有效提升词汇教学。

1。 Introduction 

This paper explores the goals, approaches, and content of teaching vocabulary in the context of English Language Teaching practice in China。 It is found that vocabulary teaching is very important, but most students lack good methods of vocabulary learning, and teachers’ ways of vocabulary teaching are also limited。论文网
