摘 要寒暄是人与人之间日常交流的开场白,也是人与人之间沟通交流的一项社会技巧。日常生活中人们都离不了与他人的寒暄，其主要功能和作用是展开双方讨论话题，避免冷场尴尬。不同文化背景下的寒暄方式体现其不同区域语言交流的地方特色。恰当的寒暄方式和问候会使谈话氛围轻松愉悦，顺利进入话题，反之则导致尴尬不快，容易让人产生误会。了解中英两国的不同寒暄方式在特定场景下的运用以及其产生的效果，有助于我们赢得良好的人际关系，顺利进行跨文化交流，避免一些不必要的文化冲突。83671

Abstract Exchanging greetings is always regarded as the opening remarks in people’s daily communication as well as the interpersonal communication skills。 In people’s daily life, greeting with others is absolutely necessary as its main function and role is to avoid embarrassment in silence or open up the topic for discussion among people。 Under different culture background, greetings reflect its local characteristic of language communication in different regions。 A proper way of greeting can make a relaxing and cheerful conservation atmosphere to carry out the topic。 On the contrary, it can easily produce misunderstanding among people, even cause embarrassment or unpleasantness。 Generally speaking, understanding the different ways of greetings in specific context and its effects between English and Chinese, is helpful to win a good relationship, to achieve efficient cross-cultural communication and to avoid unnecessary cultural conflict。
