Study on the Polysaccharide Extraction from Stems and Leaves of Achyranthes Bidentata and Its Bioactivity
Abstract: In this experiment, the polysaccharide was extracted by microwave- assisted and hot-water extraction from Stems and Leaves of Achyranthes bidentata. The antibacterial effects on bacterials such as Escherichia coli and Agrobacterium tumefacien were detected. At the same time, the antioxidant activity of the extracts was detected. The results showed that the extraction ratio of the polysaccharide through microwave-assisted and hot-water extraction were 119.59 mg/g and 193.79 mg/g, respectively. It was also found that hot-water extracts had better inhibition effects on Escherichia coli and Agrobacterium tumefacien with 7.13 mm of the inhibition zone diameter for the two bacterials. The hot-water extracts had obvious antioxidant activity with the clearance rate of 77.38% for superoxide anion radical and 48.24% for hydroxyl radical.
