The earliest research about cross-cultural adaptation could be traced back to the early 20th century in the United States。 It was first proposed by American anthropologist Robert RedField, Ralph Linton and Melville Jean Herskovits。 Yang Junhong (2005) pides the research of cross-cultural adaptation into three periods including the beginning period, the development period and the golden period。 In the beginning period, intercultural research was mainly focused on the mental health of immigrants。 In 1903, it is found in the demographics of the United States that 70% of hospital patients were immigrants, which had attracted the attention of many researchers。 Subsequently, Britain, Australia, Canada and other countries had carried out research。 In the 1970s, the research of cross-cultural adaptation entered the development period, but the studies in this period were mainly focused on the adverse consequences of cross-cultural contact, and most of the studies tended towards theoretical explanation and lacked experimental research。 There were no comparative studies between the residents and the local cultural groups。 After the 1980s, cross-cultural adaptation research has stepped into the golden period, with research methods continuously enriched and the scope of research constantly expanded。 The main emphasis of research has shifted from the cultural change and cultural integration at group level to the cross-cultural communication and discussion about a variety of factors at inpidual level。 Not only the anthropologists, sociologists but also the linguists, psychologists and social communication experts have put cross-cultural adaptation problems into their own research field, showing the rich connotation and multiple frame that multi-disciplinary and multi-perspective learn from each other and explore together。论文网
